Apex Legends was released on February 4, 2019, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The most interesting thing was that the game was released without any prior announcement and was basically a surprise for every player. The reason behind this was its developers, Respawn Entertainment, wanted players to judge the game themselves instead of relying on reviews posted by other players.
Apex Legends’ Amazing Debut
Shortly after its release, Apex Legends became one of the most popular battle royale titles out there. The game managed to attract around 25 million players during its first week, and around 50 million players in its first month. Many players even started considering it as a direct competitor to Fortnite, a battle royale title from Epic Games which ranks at the top of the battle royale category list. However, only after two months, many Apex Legends players started to get disappointed with the game.
How It All Went Down
Most of the players complained that there was not enough variety in the game. Since the game was released, players have been hungry to see new content. The last major update was the one which added Octane to the game. Not only this, but the game was even swarming with hackers and cheaters, and issue Respawn is still dealing with today. Because of all this, Apex LEgends’ viewership on Twitch also dropped by 75% in the last week of April because a lot of players lost their interest in the game.
After seeing that they have to do something quickly in order to save their game, Respawn Entertainment decided to introduce season 2 for the game. At first, many players thought that the next season is going to be the same as the previous one. But the developers sure did surprise them after they revealed details about it during EA Play conference which was held earlier this month.
What Apex Legends Season 2 Will Feature
Apex Legends season 2 is titled “Battle Charge” and it is all set to release on July 2, 2019. The game’s developers have revealed the majority of the content that will arrive with the upcoming season. So without any further due, here is what Apex Legends season 2 is going to feature.

New Character Wattson
To start with, Apex Legends season 2 is confirmed to introduce a new character to the game. Not only this, but the new character is actually Wattson, a Legend who was previously revealed through the game’s files by some data miners. The new character will have some electrical abilities, and she will be useful for those players who are a fan of setting up traps.
A popular Twitch streamer who goes by the name “Shroud” once even played with Wattson. The latter was invited to test Apex Legends during its development stage where he was able to play with some characters who are yet to be added to the game. During that time, he played with Wattson and claimed that she is a situational character. In addition to this, he further revealed that she isn’t the character for those players who like to play fast.
New Daily and Weekly Challenges
Respawn is also going to introduce daily and weekly challenges to the game. This will allow players to have a rapid Battle Pass progression, something which is missing in the current season. In addition to this, the developers have also claimed that this will help those players who can only take out a few hours in a week to work on the Battle Pass progression.
New Cosmetic Items
Apex Legends players previously claimed that season 1 introduced only a few skins. However, this will not be the case with season 2 as it will feature some amazing new cosmetic items. Players can expect to see new skins for their characters as well as for their favorite weapons. They will be either able to buy them from the in-game store or by progressing through the battle pass.
The L-STAR plasma rifle is also going to make its way to Apex Legends through season 2. Titanfall 2 players will be familiar with this weapon as it was first introduced in it. The L-STAR is going to be exclusive to care packages, meaning that it won’t be easy to get. However, it is currently described as a really powerful weapon that can even knock down doors.
Map Changes in Season 2
Aside from all this, the current map of the game is also going to undergo some changes when season 2 arrives. It was recently revealed that the Repulsor tower has started spinning slowly, meaning that it has been fixed. For those who don’t know, the Repulsor tower is meant to prevent creatures from entering the island. However, it is currently believed that the Repulsor tower is going to get destroyed and some powerful creatures, including the huge Leviathan which was teased in season 2’s teaser, will enter the island.
Respawn Entertainment has also confirmed that fans will not get disappointed with the battle pass of season 2. When season 1 was released, its battle pass was heavily criticized for offering poor content as well as a poor progression system. However, the developers have listened to the feedback provided by the players and have worked on the next battle pass by keeping it in mind.
In any case, Apex Legends season 2 is surely going to take the game to a whole new level. From a new character to new cosmetic items, the next season is going to feature it all. A few weeks ago, Respawn Entertainment even claimed that they are going to delay future Titanfall games so they can focus more on Apex Legends. This means that the developers are really serious about improving their game. Let’s just hope that everything goes as planned when the next season arrives.
