Today’s thoughts are sort of somber today due to different events that are happening currently in the world. Friday the 13th is supposed to be the day that is superstitious and not Saturday the 13th. However, the symbolism of the number 13 permeates throughout the earth with negative results. Nevertheless, we must continue to persevere no matter what comes our way.
Somalia lets me down again
If you ever saw the movie ‘Blackhawk Down,’ then you know that terrorism has been rampant in the horn of Africa over the past 30 years. Another attack occurred yesterday in the town of Kismayo, Somalia as al-Shabaab terrorists detonated a car bomb and laid siege to a hotel for 14 hours. All of the terrorists were fortunately killed, but today’s aftermath is devastating with 26 people dead and as many as 56 people injured.
Any time there are terrorist attacks, I am reminded of the UN Peacekeeping website. Why? The reason is that 13 of the 14 places where UN peacekeepers are currently deployed is primarily due to Islamic terrorism. This form of terrorism is the main reason why world peace will not be achieved in the near future.
“Looks fine to me”
New video shows severe overcrowding of men in cages at Texas detainment facility during VP Pence’s visit Friday.

The video going around this weekend is US Vice President Mike Pence touring a detainment facility along the border in Texas. He walked around and then gave a press conference. The idea that I perceived from his assessment of the tour is that he is pretty much telling everybody that everything “looks fine to me.” His assessment is the biggest problem with America today. As long as it is not happening to me, then it does not affect me. We need some more compassion because this immigration issue has been an ongoing problem for over 30 years.
The US Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement (ICE) Division will be held in nine different cities throughout the country Sunday morning. The number of cities was dropped from ten to nine after the proposed raids were postponed in New Orleans due to Hurricane Barry flooding the city.
All of a sudden, people from all over the country are protesting what the government is prepared to do Sunday morning. Where was this energy on Election Day in 2016? These raids are just one of the consequences for the USA for selecting the wrong person to lead this country. More consequences will be coming down the pike, and I will be thinking about them as well when they happen.
