The race is on. Companies all over the world are attempting to make the perfect synthetic human. What started out as blow up sex dolls has transformed into something that is nothing short of extraordinary. Today’s sex dolls have realistic synthetic skin, fully articulated joints, and some can even hold conversations with you.

Dating is becoming a thing of the past

In the modern world of internet relationships, the world of dating has become strange. People who don’t know each other seek connections via websites. These sites are full of deceit. People lie about their likes, their past, and even their looks. What this means for the casual dater is that you show up at a bar or restaurant and essentially have a blind date. You other option is to hire a prostitute.

Many people have had bad experiences with internet dating, myself included. These bad experiences leave some people with a fear of even trying. Men who in the past would just ask a girl out at work or maybe a bar, now are afraid to open their mouth in the presence of a woman. They are quite outspoken online but in public they have become meek and fearful. Fearful of accusations of harassment.

“I just got tired of being alone. Most of the women I went out with got pissed when race season got here and I went to work on race cars on most weekends. And I don’t want all the head games that real women bring with them.” ~A Sex Doll Owner on SilconWives.com

John’s Story

Lets look at John. He was married but because of his PTSD his relationship fell apart. He moved on and tried online dating but had mixed results. John simply couldn’t find a connection. He sees a documentary on HBO about RealDolls. John reaches out to the company and buys Sarah for $8,000. At first the stigma of a sex doll leaves John embarrassed.

Eventually he becomes comfortable with Sarah and she becomes his friend. John tells Sarah his thoughts, his fears, and explains to her about his desires. He makes love to her and bathes with her. John eventually begins to take her places. As the months go on, John realizes that he is happy for the first time in years. His PTSD symptoms begin to vanish. At work, John is able to function just like everyone else. Sarah has helped John to heal.

“My social life is almost nonexistent… Working at night and sleeping until the crack of noon with enough time to eat, get a small work out in and shower after, then head to work… No time to look for a relationship, tried online dating to no avail, and some major trust issues(from very bad experiences) have lead me to wanting a doll” ~A Sex Doll Owner on SilconWives.com

Sex Dolls are becoming Mainstream

John’s story is not that uncommon. Thousands of men and women have sex dolls. While for some it is simply a fetish, for many others it is a lifestyle. Sex dolls are becoming more and more mainstream in many countries. Stories about sex dolls have appeared on HOB’s Real Sex, in the New York Times, and various other mainstream sources.

Realbotics recently announced that they now have a Robot Sex Doll named Harmony. Harmony has a base cost of $15,000 and can be programmed to have whatever personality you desire. She can even have “Roborgasms”.

Sex Doll Brothels?

In Japan you can visit brothels that are populated with hundreds of varieties of sex dolls. The LumiDolls, in Barcelona, Spain, brothel boasts some of the most incredible sex dolls on the market. Xdolls brothel is certainly well-known for being the first of its kind in the whole of France. In Denmark, the Doll House welcomes male customers with the tagline “where women don’t say no.” It is rumored that the Sultan of Brunei’s brother purchased twenty sex dolls for an explosive sex party in 2015.

A recent survey conducted by YouGov discovered that 49 percent of American adults believe that having sex with robots will become common practice within the next 50 years. The study questioned 1,146 adults ages 18 and up, and found that about 24 percent of men and 9 percent of women were open to the idea of having sex with a robot. Some experts concluded that the stigma against sex dolls influenced many people to answer that they are not open to the idea when in fact they really were.

“With dolls, I can be myself. I don’t have to put up a façade to trick them into wanting to be with me (which I was never particularly good at anyway). They’re always there for me, they don’t judge me, don’t pressure me to change into what they expect me to be. Granted, they’re no substitute for real human interaction, but I have my friends and family for that.” ~A Sex Doll Owner on SilconWives.com

The future is upon us

In 2006, Dr. Henrik Christensen, the chairman of the European Robotics Network at the Royal Institute of Technology, at the University of Stockholm, predicted that “in the next five years” humans would be having sex with robots. Even if they were pretty basic ones, it wouldn’t matter, he told The Economist, because “people are willing to have sex with inflatable dolls, so initially anything that moves will be an improvement.”

The sex doll revolution is here to stay. How society adapts to sex dolls will shape our future. Its only a matter of time until some scientist makes a true android. I can only imagine the philosophical debates that will be sparked when a politician admits to owning a sex robot.
