Backlash continues to mount ahead of a planned Independence Day event the nation’s capital.

President Donald Trump has reportedly insisted on the presence of military vehicles including tanks, leading to escalating costs.

New reports indicate the “Salute to America” will be funded in part by $2.5 million from the National Park Service.

Theresa Pierno of the National Parks Conservation Association shared her thoughts.

“This is a breach of trust with the public,” she said. “The public pays fees to fix national parks and for educational programs not the president’s parade.”
