Bernie wants Disney to use ‘Avengers’ profits to give its workers a raise

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is weighing in on the record-breaking success of “Avengers: Endgame.”

The Independent senator from Vermont addressed the Disney film’s $1.2 billion opening weekend in a tweet on Monday.

“What would be truly heroic is if Disney used its profits from Avengers to pay all of its workers a middle class wage, instead of paying its CEO Bob Iger $65.6 million — over 1,400 times as much as the average worker at Disney,” he wrote.

Sanders is not the only one complaining about Iger’s salary. Abigail Disney, granddaughter of the company’s founder, recently described it as “insane.”

It also wasn’t the first time Sanders had addressed the topic. Last year, he questioned the “moral defense of a company that makes $9 billion in profits, $400 million for their CEOs and have a 30-year-old worker going hungry.”
