Some California motorists might have to alter their plans to renew a license or register a new vehicle next month. But in the end, a more pleasant experience could justify the inconvenience.

The state’s Department of Motor Vehicles recently confirmed all of its 183 field offices will all be closed for a half-day training session.

In addition to training regarding the REAL ID system, the DMV said more than 5,000 employees will also learn about providing “excellent” service to the state’s drivers.
