Cops nab Chicago elected official on fraud, obstruction charges for alleged false car-theft claim


Authorities in Illinois say a Chicago elected official has been arrested on suspicion of felony criminal charges related to filing a false claim that his vehicle was stolen.

Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno was reportedly arrested on Tuesday evening. He was later released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Prosecutors are expected to pursue counts of insurance fraud and obstruction of justice.
