One Democratic lawmaker shot back at a social media critic with a curt message invoking his own military service.

“What is Ted ‘China Spy’ Lieu doing about homelessness in major California Cities?” the Twitter user wrote in reference to the U.S. congressman.

Lieu responded:

“I served on active duty in the United States military to defend your right to say stupid, racist s***.”

The lawmaker, who served in the Air Force between 1995 and 1999 before transitioning into the Air Force Reserve, has used a variation of the comeback in the past.

Last year, he called out Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham over her announcement that immigration has destroyed the “America we know and love.”

Lieu tweeted at the time that he “served on active duty to defend your right to make racist statements.”
