Federal authorities coordinated raids on multiple locations in Baltimore, Maryland, on Thursday morning.
Reports indicate agents from the FBI and IRS showed up at the home of Mayor Catherine Pugh. The Democrat has been on a leave of absence amid a scandal regarding the sale of her children’s books.
Healthcare company Kaiser Permanente reportedly spent six figures to purchase copies of the “Healthy Holly” title.

The University of Maryland Medical System reportedly purchased 100,000 copies for a half million dollars. Pugh had been a member of its board of directors before resigning last month.
In announcing her leave, however, the reason provided was health-related.
“She has been advised by her physicians that she needs to take time and recover and focus on her health,” her office said.
Pugh had reportedly been diagnosed with pneumonia.
“At this time, with the Mayor’s health deteriorating, she feels as though she is unable to fulfill her obligations.”
Acting Mayor Bernard Young said he was not advised of Thursday’s raids ahead of time.
