At an appearance in New York City this week, U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler fell ill and required a trip to the hospital.
After Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was seated nearby, asked if Nadler was OK, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee said he was not before nearly fainting.
The New York Democrat was reportedly transported to an area hospital for observation after being wheeled out of the venue on a stretcher. A subsequent statement on his behalf indicates he simply became overheated.
“He is okay,” the spokesperson wrote. “Seems to have been dehydrated and it was very warm in the room. He is now responsive and receiving a check-up.”
