After a string of attacks on the venerable newspaper and several other news outlets, the president and CEO of The New York Times is hitting back at President Donald Trump.

While Mark Thompson made it clear that Trump “has every right” to dislike the newspaper’s reporting, he said continued vilification of journalism is harmful.

“But actually isolating journalists, as a group, not just the Times, but the whole industry, is a really, frankly, hostile, stupid but also dangerous thing to do,” he said.
