Though President Donald Trump thinks the U.S.-born Duchess of Sussex “will be very good” in her new royal position, he had a harsh take on Meghan Markle’s criticism of his politics.
A British tabloid asked Trump about her comments during the 2016 presidential campaign. Markle described the then-candidate as “misogynistic” and “divisive,” among other things.
The president said he wasn’t aware the former actress, who recently gave birth to the couple’s first child, felt that way.
“What can I say?” he replied. “I didn’t know she was nasty.”
Trump indicated he had hoped to meet Markle during an upcoming trip to the U.K., during which he is expected to meet with her husband, Prince Harry and several other royal figures.
“I hope she is OK,” Trump said of Markle.
