Former Vice President Joe Biden remains defiant as critics including fellow Democratic presidential hopefuls question his stance on social issues.
“I don’t have to atone,” he told a group of reporters in Iowa this week. “My record stands for itself.”
Biden went on to say that he had never been accused of “not being an overwhelming supporter of civil rights and civil liberties.”
The early front-runner’s commanding lead has narrowed considerably since last week’s debate, which included a line of pointed questions on the issue of racial equality from U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris.
