A group of cities are reportedly asking the campaign committee for President Donald Trump to reimburse expenses topping a combined $840,000 for costs associated with providing police and other security at rallies as far back as the 2016 election season.

El Paso, Texas, is asking for more than half of that amount for expenses associated with Trump’s rally in that city earlier this year. Republican Mayor Dee Margo shared his take.

“I’m hopeful they’ll pay,” he said. “I’m hopeful they’ll do what’s right. People that don’t pay their bills — that’s a character integrity issue.”

While Trump appeared in dozens of other American cities, many have existing policies against sending politicians a bill for security costs.
