The conservative lawyer married to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway continues his public feud with his wife’s boss.
Following the recent release of the Mueller report, George Conway echoed remarks by 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. In a recent editorial, Clinton addressed the current congressional investigations into President Donald Trump following the release of the Mueller report. She offered her take in the context of impeachment hearings against her husband — former President Bill Clinton — more than 20 years ago.
“Congress should hold substantive hearings that build on the Mueller report and fill in its gaps, not jump straight to an up-or-down vote on impeachment,” she wrote. “In 1998, the Republican-led House rushed to judgment. That was a mistake then and would be a mistake now.”
George Conway took a quote from her op-ed and added his own thoughts, invoking Clinton’s campaign slogan.
“Obviously, this is personal for me, and some may say that I’m not the right messenger,” she wrote, as quoted in Conway’s tweet.
“Perhaps so,” he added. “Probably so. But if she’s with the Constitution, I’m with her.”
