In the wake of controversial remarks by U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., several Republicans rushed to condemn her.

One such critic was Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who reportedly called the Muslim lawmaker’s comments about the Holocaust antisemitic.

She went on to tweet that Tlaib’s account of the aftermath “a fantasy based on lies spread to delegitimize the state of Israel.”

Another freshman Democrat, Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, defended Tlaib by questioning Cheney’s motives.

“Give it up, we all know you never met a Muslim you didn’t want to vilify!” tweeted Omar, also a Muslim. “Your deep seeded hate and Islamophobia might be a tool to rally your base, but won’t get rid your colleagues. You just have to deal.”
