‘Then he goes and lies’: Trump accuses Biden of fabricating story about Obama endorsement

While 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden said he asked former President Barack Obama — his ex-boss — not to endorse him in the Democratic primary race, the current president isn’t buying it.

“How he doesn’t get President Obama to endorse him — there has to be some reason why he’s not endorsing him,” Donald Trump claimed. “He was the vice president. They seem to have gotten along. And how President Obama’s not endorsing him is rather a big secret.”

Trump then went on to accuse his possible general-election rival of being dishonest in his account.

“Then [Biden] goes and lies and said, ‘I asked the president not to endorse me,'” the president claimed. “Give me a break.”

As for an imagined motive for the alleged dishonesty, Trump suggested Biden might be “embarrassed by the fact that Obama’s not endorsing him,” saying “it could be that President Obama knows something, but there is something going on in that brain of his.”
