After significant backlash from his own party over threats to impose new tariffs on Mexico, President Donald Trump remained defiant when asked about the issue during his ongoing state visit to the United Kingdom.
“I think it’s most likely that the tariffs go on,” he said.
As for whether the Republican Party could be an impediment to his plan, Trump shrugged off such concerns.
“I don’t think they will do that,” he said. “I think if they do, it’s foolish.”
The president’s proposal could include tariffs up to 25 percent if Mexico does not impose the type of immigration reform he prefers.
