After Donald Trump Jr. shared — and then deleted — a tweet furthering right-wing conspiracies about 2020 presidential hopeful Kamala Harris‘ race, Meghan McCain called him out in no uncertain terms.
“Is this true?” Trump tweeted. “Wow.”
His comment was in response to a conservative pundit’s claim that Harris, a Democratic senator from California, is “not an American Black” along with unsubstantiated claims about her ancestry.
“What’s happening to [Harris] is disgusting and unquestionably racist,” McCain wrote. “And while the tweet was deleted, it appears that the Trump family tradition of spreading racial demagoguery and conspiracy theories lives on.”
Her father, the late U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has remained a consistent target of Trump’s father, the current president, even after his death last year from brain cancer.
