Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has apparently reconsidered a tweet he posted as Nike faced criticism of its decision to pull a line of sneakers bearing a representation of the U.S. flag as designed by Betsy Ross.
Declaring at the time that he was “embarrassed for Nike,” the Republican declared he had “ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw all financial incentive dollars under their discretion that the State was providing for the company to locate here.”
The following week, however, he described such an investment as “good news for Arizona” and the city of Goodyear.
“Over $184 million in capital investment,” Ducey tweeted. “Arizona is open for business, and we welcome [Nike] to our state.”
