President Donald Trump once again dedicated part of his day to railing against cable news hosts.
Beginning by praising his favorite news network’s morning show, he moved to criticizing other outlets.
“Sorry to say but [Fox News Channel’s ‘Fox & Friends’] is by far the best of the morning political shows on television,” Trump tweeted. “It rightfully has BY FAR the highest ratings, not even close.”
After claiming CNN host Chris Cuomo had been a “failure in the morning,” he attacked MSNBC’s morning programming.
“Morning Psycho (Joe), who helped get me elected in 2016 by having me on (free) all the time, has nosedived, too Angry, Dumb and Sick,” Trump claimed. “A really bad show with low ratings – and will only get worse.”
“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough was quick to respond with feigned appreciation.
“Why thank you,” he told the president. “I remember you telling [CNN President] Jeff Zucker that you didn’t need CNN — the entire network of CNN — to get elected. But you are saying our show is so powerful that we got you elected. Wow, that’s great!”
A chyron at the bottom of the screen added to the response.
“Morning Psycho responds to faithful viewer,” the caption read as Scarborough spoke.
Others on the panel, includig co-host Willie Geist, joined in the reaction.
“It’s viewers like you, Mr. President, who make it all possible,” he said.
