‘You like records’: AG Barr jokes with departing deputy about recent contempt vote

As Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made his departure from the Justice Department official, his boss shared some thoughts.

William Barr, the nation’s new attorney general, referenced a recent congressional committee vote to hold him in contempt. Democratic lawmakers have expressed dissatisfaction with Barr’s handling of the Mueller report.

But Barr made light of the situation during a farewell ceremony for Rosenstein this week.

“You like records,” he said to his outgoing deputy. “This must be a record of attorney general being proposed for contempt within 100 days of taking office.”
