The rotating door on the dressing rooms at The View is about to push Meghan McCain out. The Conservative voice on the panel talk is allegedly unhappy with the show and how she is portrayed.
Though she fails to realize the show is live and there is very little editing that happens. After a series of controversies, it seems the emotional toll is too much for the talking head. And it may be time for her to move on.
For those that are unaware, The View has become more well known for their cast changes than anything else. Some of the most high profile exits have been Rosie O’Donnell, Jedediah Bila, and Rosie Perez.
Meghan McCain will be joining that illustrious list. Some reports have stated that she feels like a “caged animal” after her two seasons on the show. A source has said that she is “exhausted.” It has to be hard to pretend to know everything and act like everyone else is an idiot.
The truth is much less friendly to McCain. Two sources have said that producers are tired of the way McCain treats them. As usual, the ABC template for an exiting cohost is to have the story leak, and then deny that anything is wrong, which leads right to the announcement that said cohost is leaving.
Following the template perfectly, producers put out statements saying that all of the cohosts would be returning. “The co-hosts and The View have had an incredible season and we expect them all back for an epic year ahead,” that comes from an ABC spokesperson. They are not being truthful, or are they?
There is a chance McCain will return in the fall, but not for the entire season. They had Jed return for a few weeks, while they hammered out a deal with McCain. Certainly, the producers would not be afraid to try this again with McCain.
But who could be lined up to be the conservative voice of The View?
There are a plethora of options for The View producers to choose from when it comes to finding McCain’s replacement. As they usually do, they can watch Fox News and try to pick the most annoying person. However, there are some conservative hosts that might be a good fit without torturing the audience altogether.
Ana Navarro is a fill-in host for the show already. Her popularity surpasses that of McCain and makes her an easy choice. Daytime audiences are resistant to change, so to have someone they already know in the seat would make for an easy transition.
Another well-known name would be Megyn Kelly. She is the more likely candidate to take over the role. First, thanks to Fox News and NBC, she is a household name. And the audience would already know her. Despite her ratings on NBC being lower than McCain’s Q rating, there were problems with her Peacock network show.
Namely, it did not suit her personality. Kelly is a hard newswoman and a talking head, not a fluff piece hostess. With a gig on The View, she would be able to cut her teeth on some cooking segments but show off her opinionated, newswoman side. It would be a win for both parties.
Who do you think should replace Meghan McCain?
