Every Bully Needs a Victim

I firmly believe that bullying is the reason why today’s society has fallen into a perverted pit of despair. People are too wimpy to stand up for themselves.

After eight years of placating terrorists throughout the Obama administration, an entire generation has learned how to be victimized…. and like it.

The most recent example of someone wanting to achieve total victim-hood is the now-infamous Jussie Smollett. This gay, black actor was so excited to proclaim his victim-hood to the world that he actually hired two fellow black actors to pretend to attack him. And then he went on television and furthered his hoax with a tearful recollection that was actually a targeted effort to smear Trump supporters. According to Smollett, his attackers were white and wore Make America Great Again hats. It was a textbook hate crime that never happened.

Police investigators soon uncovered Smollett’s lies, but not before the previously-unknown actor received a boatload of attention.

A grand jury indicted the actor on 16 counts of disorderly conduct. This seemed reasonable until the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office suddenly dropped those charges on March 26. Interestingly enough, Smollett forfeited a $10,000 bond and was given credit for having completed 20 hours of community service. During a press conference with DA Kim Foxx, Smollett doubled-down on his innocence.

Incensed by this unforeseen turn of events, Mayor Rahm Emanuel stated afterwards, “This is an unbelievable, not just a whitewash of justice, this is a person now who got off scot-free with no sense of accountability of the moral and ethical wrong of his actions, from top to bottom, not only besmirching the name of the city… but you have a person using hate crime laws that are on the books to protect people who are minorities from violence, to turn around and use those laws to advance your career? Is there no decency in this man?”

Foxx soon recused herself after it came out in the news that she was “familiar” with members of Smollett’s family. It was also revealed that a Chicago attorney and former chief of staff for former First Lady Michelle Obama had reached out to the DA just before she dropped the charges against him.

The City of Chicago filed a suit in Circuit Court asking that Smollett repay them $130,106. This amount represents the cost laid out by the city to investigate the fake hate crime. Smollett refused, and First Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Joseph Magats is now seeking three times that amount.

The two men whom Smollett allegedly paid to attack him sued Smollett’s lawyers; Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian, on Tuesday for defamation. According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, Brothers Ola and Abel Osundairo charge that the attorneys’ “continued false statements and rhetoric have only deepened the damage that was caused by the very first out of 16 counts of lies that were told to the police that started this whole situation.”

In the meantime, Smollett’s friends, family and co-workers are standing behind him in solidarity.

Demanding his character be retained on the show, the cast of Empire went to bat for their their colleague. According to an E News report, the group wrote a letter stating that Smollett is ” “honest and above all he is filled with integrity. He is also innocent and no longer subject to legal uncertainty with the criminal charges against him having been dropped.”

In light of a situation like this, it looks like the bullies now run the world.

I used to think that placating my own bullies would somehow make them realize that they were being terribly unfair. However,  they learned instead that I could be bullied.

When the bullying got to be too much for me to handle, I simply stopped dealing with them.

Now that the bullies have been shut out of my life, I refuse to let anyone treat me like that again. As a result, I have learned to finally stand up for myself after all these years.

Every bully needs a victim.

We should all refuse to be another bully’s victim!
