Fans are now getting to know more about ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ which will become one of Marvel’s new streaming series for Disney Plus. The newest details came during the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where both Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie appeared on-stage.

Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, has taken over the role of Captain America and is joining forces with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky, to form a very interesting duo. ‘The Falcon and Winter Soldier,’ is expected to be set sometime after ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home,’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not sure when. Fans were really surprised when they found out that Zemo, the villain from ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ is back, but this time he’s wearing his purple mask. Daniel Bruhl will reprise his role as Zemo.

‘The Falcon and Winter Soldier’ will be limited to six episodes

The show is being written by Malcolm Spellman along with Derek Kolstad. Deadline has reported that Kari Skoglan will direct all six of the episodes. The show will be exclusively available on Disney’s upcoming Disney Plus streaming service, which is scheduled for launch in November, but the show is not expected to be part of the initial content. The series is expected to be released in 2020.

Filming is set to begin in October. It was rumored would don his new costume in the series, and now Mackie has confirmed that to MTV News. Mackie told MTV that he had his first fitting and it looks great. On stage Mackie and Stan “fought” over the iconic shield. It was later confirmed during the panel that Emily VanCamp would return as Sharon Carter. The show will take place after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Marvel Studios dropped several major announcements

Marvel Studios has also confirmed that along with ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’, they will also be releasing ‘Loki,’ ‘WandaVison,’ and ‘Hawkeye,’ to their streaming platform. The series will be impacted by Steve deciding to pass the shield onto Sam. In ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ it appeared that Sam was definitely hesitant accepting the shield and all it stands for. The series could potentially focus on the duo dealing with a world where Steve Rogers is playing a different role, and with Sam coming to terms with his major responsibility.

With the show’s logo being the Captain America shield, it will probably be about Falcon becoming a true Captain America successor. Falcon will have a chance to take down Zemo, once and for all, doing something Steve Rogers was unable to do. The news comes as Marvel Studios announces its Phase 4 movies and shows. Feige also announced with the help of its new star of the MCU, that they would be rebooting the hit ‘Blade’ series.
