CoolCura™ is a Feng Fu Ice Therapy product that just launched on Amazon after a successful fundraising campaign via Kickstarter. Feng Fu Ice Therapy is an ancient acupuncture technique that is believed to bestow significant health benefits that may promote health and well-being. The Feng Fu Spot is located where the end of the neck and base of the skull are joined; it was recognized in Chinese Medicine as an important pressure point for overall health and well-being. Applying ice to your Feng Fu spot for 15 to 20 minutes is believed to cause your body to respond by releasing endorphins into the bloodstream, resulting in a euphoric, relaxed feeling.

The CoolCura™ line of products, have been uniquely designed with convenience and accessibility in mind, to provide users with the desired benefits of Feng Fu Ice Therapy. Developed by New Jersey-based, husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Brian Adams and Barbara Canellis, CoolCura™ is engineered and designed to take advantage of the health and wellness benefits associated with Feng Fu Ice Therapy. The CoolCura™ devices feature a unique design that allows anyone to experience Feng Fu Ice Therapy, without the mess of melting ice or the difficulty of holding the ice in the correct location. Feng Fu Ice Therapy is similar to acupuncture, but instead of needles, one uses the reusable stainless steel ice pod. The coldness cools down inflammation, quickly and effectively delivering desired results.

CoolCura™ was designed by husband-and-wife team Brian Adams and Barbara Canellis while they were caring for their son, Austin, who was feeling nauseous and dizzy after a surgery. A nurse tending to his needs placed a bag of ice on the back of his neck and almost instantaneously his symptoms disappeared. The couple subsequently did research into the medicinal merits of ice and found that, in traditional Chinese Medicine, there is a Feng Fu spot where the neck and base of the skull meet an alleged communication point between the mind and body.

CoolCura™Brian Adams recently discussed his invention and business via an exclusive interview.

Meagan Meehan (MM): You first learned about Feng Fu after seeing how much relief ice gave your son when he was recovering from an operation. What most interested you about this ancient Chinese practice?

Brian: Watching the almost miraculous response that our son had, had spurred my curiosity and I began to do research for an explanation as to what I had witnessed. Numerous health benefits were claimed to be associated with Feng Fu Ice Therapy and I began to experiment on myself to see what benefits it could provide me with.

MM: What prompted you to invent the CoolCura™ and how does it differ from other items on the market?

Brian: I found holding ice on my neck took away from the overall relaxation experience I was seeking. And melting ice down the back of the neck was not enjoyable. I eventually made a handmade prototype which was an improvement but was still not ideal. At the time, there was nothing on the market that was targeted to provide Feng Fu Ice Therapy.

MM: How long did it take you to design CoolCura™ and how did you settle on the precise materials to use?

CoolCura™Brian: CoolCura™ was not developed by just me. I was fortunate enough to work closely with Michael Greenberg of Brand New MD, LLC. Over a period of about 6-8 months, we worked together to create CoolCura™ and its design was inspired by colors and materials that would enhance relaxation.

MM: How different was the prototype of the cards from the final product?

Brian: The prototype and the final product are not far off at first glance in terms of appearance. However, the materials, quality, and function are vastly superior.

MM: How did you go about getting it marketed and sold?

Brian: We have been exploring multiple marketing possibilities starting with a KickStarter Campaign. Our next goal was to get on Amazon, which we have successfully done.

MM: What’s the best feedback you’ve gotten about the product?

Brian: We are thrilled anytime we have a customer provide feedback that our product has helped them feel better. One individual wrote that our product has helped her in her lifelong battle with migraines.

MM: What is it like to run a business with your wife?

CoolCura™Brian: It is awesome. One of our goals in starting the company was to create a “family business”. The whole family has tried to contribute. The old saying is you never work a day in your life if you love what you do. I would add that work is much more enjoyable and rewarding when you get to work with people that you love.

MM: How do you hope CoolCura™ evolves over the next five years?

Brian: We hope to be able to continue to develop and design products that can help people find simple and effective ways to relax and address chronic problems naturally.

MM: Have you invented anything else or are any cool new items coming out in the near future?

Brian: The CoolCura™ team and Michael Greenberg of Brand New MD, LLC are currently working on a number of new items to add to the CoolCura™ product line based on customer feedback. We are also always on the lookout for products that can help make life better.

MM: What are your ultimate goals for the future and is there anything else that you would like to mention?

Brian: Right now, our primary focus is to grow our brand to a level that would afford us the opportunity to support the battle against cancer as both my wife and I have lost a parent to cancer.
