The biggest jewelry design contest in the world will be held in Antwerp on August 2nd, 2022. Since 1985, young and innovative designers have been able to compete in this contest every two years. However, this prestigious competition held its live red carpet final in 2017. With the support of CIBJO (The World Jewellery Confederation) and in partnership with Vincenzaoro, Europe’s Largest Gold and Jewelry Trade Show, HRD Antwerp decided to reinvent itself for its 18th edition.
Talent and innovation in jewelry are catalyzed by HRD Antwerp
It is HRD Antwerp’s ambition to become a catalyst for talent. The competition had to be re-invented for us to succeed. In this year’s competition, there will be three categories. A new category has been added to the classic categories of diamond jewelry and gemstone jewelry: accessories. Peace will be the theme of the competition. Winners of each category can count on the actual production of their jewelry and become members of the HRD community.
The company is seeking new and creative talent from around the world, especially from the US, Africa, and Europe. Young talent should be encouraged to participate in the competition and represent their country, school, project, or just themselves within this competition and grab the amazing opportunities that come with it through design schools, creative platforms, governments, and artists.
A unique opportunity for young designers
In the jewelry industry, the HRD Design Awards provide a tremendous platform for emerging designers. Winners have the opportunity to launch their own jewelry collections or to jump-start their jewelry careers, like Paola Strammiello, who won the competition in 2013 and became a senior jewel designer at Graff Diamonds.
