With Dale Steyn being ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, South Africa faces a stiff challenge ahead of their clash against India on Wednesday, June 5.
Hampshire Bowl in Southampton will host the match 8 of the tournament. The match will be starting at 9:30 AM GMT, 3:00 PM IST, 11:30 AM SAST.
This will be India’s first match in this competition while South Africa will be playing their third match. India lost one of their warm-up matches to New Zealand before going onto win their other warm-up encounter against Bangladesh.
South Africa has had a horrid start to their campaign as they lost both their matches against England and Bangladesh. Another loss would already put them in a difficult position at the very beginning of the tournament.

Jadhav declared fit for the first match
Kedar Jadhav was declared fit for the opening clash against the Proteas which places him at no. 6. KL Rahul will bat no. 4 while the rest of the batting order can be easily guessed. The question lies with the bowling combination. It will be interesting to whether India plays two wrist spinners or one. If both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal play, then Bhuvaneswar Kumar and Mohammad Shami will fight for one spot in the lineup.
Ngidi likely to sit out but Amla returns
Dale Steyn has been declared unfit for the tournament and will return to South Africa. He will be replaced by left-arm pacer Beuran Hendricks. Hashim Amla was declared fit, hence he is likely to replace David Miller in the batting order. Lungi Ngidi, who suffered an injury in the previous match might sit out. Dwaine Pretorius is expected to come into the XI in his place. Rest of the side will be unchanged from the previous match.
The weather in Southampton is expected to chilly and windy. An early start would mean that the Pacers will get some swing in the morning with the new ball. It is one of the best batting wickets in the country and it would be no different on Wednesday. The forecast suggests some rainfall, which could force some stoppages during the day.
