India’s Mission to Mars: Mission Mangal is Akshay Kumar’s new film

America already has its robots on Mars and other big players like Russia and China wants to go there. Can India be too far behind?


India’s Mission to Mars to hit the screens as Mission Mangal. It is a movie that depicts how Indians could handle such a complex subject. The country sent its Mars Orbiter Mission in 2013. It is orbiting Mars since September 2014 and is a part of ISROs project Mangalyaan. The movie is about Jagan Shakti and India’s first interplanetary mission. The movie has a bevy of stars like Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, and Vidya Balan. There are others like Nithya Menen, Sharman Joshi and Kirti Kulhari. The trailer of the movie is out and it holds the interest of the viewer. The actual movie will release on 15 August, India’s Independence Day. It is a new subject for Indian cinema and Akshay Kumar loves to take on new subjects. Hence, it could make an impression at the box office.

India’s Mission to Mars will break new ground

Indian space research organization ISRO is involved in the Mars mission. It is the Mars Orbiter Mission aka Mangalyaan. Mangal is the Indian name for Mars. The trailer of the movie begins with Akshay Kumar’s voiceover – “There is no science without experiment.” It goes on to show the determination of the team of scientists. They are from different backgrounds but have a common goal. To them, the sky is not the limit. There are obstacles on the way but they overcome them. Their task is to launch the Mars Orbiter Mission. Akshay Kumar says he opted to do Mission Mangal for his daughter and children her age.

About India’s Mars mission

The date was November 5, 2013 for launch of Mars Orbiter Mission. The venue as the Sriharikota spaceport. MOM placed itself into the Martian orbit on September 24, 2014. It was success at the first attempt. Its mission life was around six months. However, it is still active even after 1000 days in its orbit in June 2017.  The movie is about India’s Mission to Mars.
