‘Chicago Fire’: S08.E05. “Buckle Up” Sneak Peek

0

In a sneak peek at what’s coming in the next Chicago Fire episode, Buckle Up, we see Firefighter Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) asking Paramedic in Charge Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) if Firefighter Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) has popped the question to Chloe Allen (Kristen Gutoskie).

During the One Chicago crossover, Infection, Joe was behaving in a peculiar manner when around Chloe. Consequently, because of how outlandish Joe was being, Mouch and Sylvie insisted that he reveal to them what was causing his extra weird behaviour. Joe told his Firehouse 51 colleagues he is going to propose to Chloe.

Joe had it all panned out perfectly. To make the proposal something she would remember, he booked a reservation at one of Chicago’s most expensive restaurants. Even though Joe thought of everything imaginable, there is one thing the firefighter didn’t account for in his planning. Chloe, possibly because of how Joe has been behaving recently, split up with Joe.

Considering Joe’s best friend, Firefighter Brian “Otis” Zvonecek (Yuri Sardarov), having recently died due to injuries sustained on the job, it looks like showrunners have a grudge against him. Why can’t Joe be given a break from hardship? Isn’t it someone else’s turn to feel the burn of an authentic narrative? Joe tells Mouch and Sylvie he hasn’t had a chance to ask Chloe yet.

Before the staff meeting convenes, Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) tells Mouch he wants him to drive the truck. Even though Mouch has driven the truck a few times before, Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) congratulates him on getting the driving position. Naturally, Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) can’t stop himself from chiming into the conversation.

Mouch reminds us how Christopher was known as Kirby because he had a habit of taking corners too short. This comment gets laughs from almost everyone in the room.
