The Caging of America’s Future

History of Immigration:

America began on the backs of immigrants, none which went through a program prior to settling, that included legal or illegal entrance. All were welcomed, and all were needed. The beginning immigrants came to America to escape famine, being poor, and the vision of a better future for themselves and their families. Today we see this with the immigrants that come across the Rio Grande. These mothers holding the small hands of their children are only looking for a safe harbor, to bring their dreams to fruition.

America for decades had rejoiced in those dreamers, those immigrants from the Irish to the slaves of Africa, and those who escaped Germany prior to WWII. The hope and the dream of a better tomorrow than what they experienced daily in their home country. America, today is on the cusp on either staying that shining city upon the hill for those dreamers, or to fall into the swamp of bigotry, racism, and hatred. America must search within itself to decide where they want to end up, on the side of leadership, or one of mismanaged aggression.

Current Illegal Immigration:

What we do know as fact is that there were approximately 12.0 million immigrants from Mexico living in the United States in 2016, and fewer than half of them (45%) were in the country illegally, according to Pew Research Center estimates. Mexico is the country’s largest source of immigrants, making up 26.6% of all U.S. immigrants. These numbers are from PEW Research. In 2017, the Border Patrol made just 130,454 apprehensions of Mexicans, a sharp drop from a peak of 1.6 million apprehensions in 2000. What a huge difference. We cannot currently put illegal immigrants as an emergency at this point. What we can place at the top of the list would include updating the infrastructure, finding other forms of energy besides oil and other ozone contaminates, and mostly to find medical resources for all Americans. When America finally realizes what is true needs, then it will gain the respect of other countries.

Today, we see politicians who wish to garner support on the backs of immigrants but creating false emergencies and bigotry. This is not America. America has always put Mothers and their children above reproach and protected them when harmed, neglected or used as pawns anywhere around the world. Are these hard working, family oriented immigrants somehow taking away from the American citizen? They pay taxes and cannot get benefits from the government, because they are scared of being deported?

The Future of America and Immigration:

America needs to look within themselves and question why they hate immigrants. The true issues cross by land but overlook those who come by air or sea and overstay VISAs. It is time that America put together an immigration policy that coincides with an ethical, caring, integrity driven directive. Today, we just hear screams from haters, bigots, and racists. When can those immigrants speak in their defense?

Again, we see America is great because of these immigrants, but we see a divided nation, and we must come together in the middle. This will take care of those dreamers that are here, and allow others in. Agreements with our neighbors to stop the bleeding of their own countrymen due to poor economics or leadership. America cannot have that talk until we have a true statesman, with civility, honor, and integrity as the President of the U.S.
