China’s national government is dealing with a tidal wave of an international backlash. This all comes after reports surfaced last week about disturbing cases of racial discrimination against Africans in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
Many news sources from countries all over the world have released reports about Chinese landlords evicting Africans at an alarming rate over fears that black immigrants are carrying the new coronavirus. The Africans are being reported by landlords to police, rounded up, and driven out of their rented homes by force at the hands of armed Chinese officers.
In the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, Africans from the nation of Kenya are being forcefully displaced the most. The Kenyan students and expatriates are being accused of carrying the new coronavirus and tests were conducted on them by force. However, there was no word on whether any Africans tested positive for the virus.
The Africans were also doing everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus, including wearing face masks and latex gloves.
However, none of that prevented Chinese authorities from removing the Africans from their homes at gunpoint. If the displaced Africans could not find shelter at their home country’s embassy in China’s capital of Beijing, they were forced to live on the streets. However, according to CNN, China’s national government has called all these reports “sensationalized.”
“All foreigners are treated equally. We reject differential treatment, and we have zero tolerance for discrimination,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian in a statement released on Sunday (April 12).
CNN also reported that a member of Kenya’s national parliament has called for all Chinese nationals to leave the East African nation immediately. A video news report on this issue, which was recently produced by Kenya Citizen TV, is embedded below. Leaders from all over the African continent should follow Kenya’s prescription of expelling all Chinese nationals from their respective countries.
If Africans are not treated with humanity in China, the Chinese have no business being in Africa for any reason; business or otherwise.
